Eyeliner Reviews

Eyeliners are a big staple in my everyday make up routine. I think even if I was going with minimal makeup, I'd still go for the black liner because it makes such a big difference to my eyes. I love the look of the cat flick, and although I very rarely get it looking how I want, it gives me confidence.
I've been trying to find the perfect eyeliner for ages. I'm always looking at reviews for various different liners; gel, pen, pencil, felt tip - I've tried them all. The top three (as illustrated above) are my favourites, with each one having their own pros and cons. Do you have any recommendations? I tend to go for highstreet brands rather than paying for something high end without testing it, but I'd love to hear your opinions for both!

1. Maybelline Gel Studio 24 hr Gel Liner. This is my most recent acquisition and I had high hopes for it. The biggest problem I have with eyeliner is that I have a slightly hooded eyelid on my right eye and so I am forever having problems with it rubbing off or smudging. My left eye is fine, and every one of these eyeliners would be great if you don't have the problem I have! As I said, I was expecting great things from this liner. It's the first gel liner I've tried and I like the application and the amount you get in the pot. After a few hours though, it smudges and I end up looking like I've applied eyeshadow too. I've tried adding some primer to my eyelid but unfortunately it doesn't last til the end of the day and so I'm still left with the smudged look. I like my eyeliner to look crisp and clean and this one doesn't do it for me unfortunately!

2. L'oreal Super Liner Carbon Gloss. This one is definitely my favourite out of the three. It's very easy to apply, a good solid black and it gives a sharp point. It doesn't smudge on to the top of my eyelid like the previous, but by the end of the day it seems to have flaked off and leaves me with a very uneven line. It's less obvious than the others which is why it's the top of my three, but I would love it if it didn't wear off!

3. Collection 2000 Extreme 24hr Felt Tip Liner. As with the others, I bought this on good authority. I know Alix from I Covet Thee uses this, and I have to agree with her that it makes eyeliner extremely easy to apply. As with the others, it doesn't last all day (certainly not 24hrs) but I find the black isn't as deep as the others and it smudges off quite easily.

I always feel like my makeup isn't complete without eyeliner and I know it's a big part in most people's routines so I hope you found this helpful! As I said before, if you have any recommendations please let me know! I'm planning on adding more illustration into my blog so I hope you like the illustrated products! I'm off to Specsavers this afternoon to try out my new contacts, have a lovely bank holiday Monday! xo
